The June issue of Vogue Italy, one of the leading magazines in the fashion world, is dedicated to real beauties. On the cover in black and white adorn three exemplary but full figured women in sexy lingerie. They have lush shaped bodies with big bosoms, wide hips and full thighs. Steven Meisel would finally cover this “real women” have been photographed.
“Hurrah!” call the fashion journalists in unison, “Curvy is trendy!”. This would cover in June Vogue a strong signal of an international trend. It is the proof, it is said that at last the fashion world with both feet on the ground and that there are finally aware that we women do not have the dimensions of a mannequin.
“Wonderful!” call others. “Finally I can again with full dedication on ice, cupcakes and other treats landfill and enjoy life.” “Curvy is trendy ‘is a welcome message on the eve of summer, a time when we are quite busy each year tend to make the line. As of today we have a celebratory cream cake which treats old friend no longer need to save.
But not all responses to the Vogue cover are equally positive. “It’s a publicity stunt” is a common criticism. The fashion magazine may call itself a time for speaking out against the skinny models in fashion photography and we usually on the runway but what comes in the practice of this?
“Go and go shopping with me and my curvy girlfriends”, is the reaction of a bitter insider. To be clear, she adds: “Curvy means, for those who did not know, in the jargon of the fashion system is just ‘fat’. Come with me (size 44) and my curvy girlfriends and let the boutiques of the most expensive fashion labels walk. Dolce & Gabbana, Armani, Prada. It does not matter, none of them know what is size 44. And they have even less to size 44, 46 or 48 when they thought that with low waist slim fit jeans designed, or sexy lingerie line. It is not necessary to obese to be excluded from the fashion world.
