Happy mothers make happy children

Children are happiest when their mother is. Nearly three quarters of the children whose mother is happy, is happy with his or her home. A happy father makes no difference.

This is the finding of the British Institute for Social and Economic Study of 40,000 households with children aged 10 to 15 years. When the mother is unhappy, only 55 percent of children fully satisfied with family life, reports Gulf News.

Professors from the institute found that the happiest children who are living with two parents and any younger brothers or sisters. Younger relatives are associated with a lower level of satisfaction. Having older brothers or sisters shall not affect the happiness of children.

Quarrel

The relationship with parents for children more important than the relationship with siblings. Only 28 percent of children who more than once a week arguing with their parents at home and discuss any important matters, was entirely satisfied with the home situation.

“These findings show that family relationships and happiness of parents are the key to the happiness of the children,” said Professor Maria IACOVOU. “Contrary to the general assumption that children would only have time to spend playing video games and watching TV, we discovered that they actually are happiest in dealing with their parents or siblings.”
